Goat Town

Last night my dear friend and I hit up Goat Town for dinner. After reading Tasting Table’s review, which highlighted Chef Jessica Wilson’s heavy emphasis of vegetables on her menu, it jumped to the top of my “to try” restaurant list.

The dim lighting, subway tiled benches and vaulted ceilings gave the ambience an underground feel. Our server was absolutely lovely, but our drinks and food took too long and the restaurant was hardly at full capacity.

Okay back to the vegetables; no, they weren’t the highlight of the menu, but the ones we ate were good. To me, the most memorable part of our experience at Goat Town was my entrée: sea scallops with smoked tomatoes, bacon, polenta and herbs. Though not overwhelming, the bacon was at the forefront of the dish, countered by the sweet scallops (without a single grain of sand or grit, bonus points!) and the smoky acidity of the tomatoes.

Overall, a good experience. If you are in the neighborhood, give it a try.
